Our Primary
Need
~Becoming a Nonprofit Corporation~
We need funding to
further public awareness of brain injury issues and provide quality
programs and outlets for the brain injury survivors, their families
and caregivers who make up our membership. At present, our growth
and impact are limited by our inability to attract sponsors and
donors.
Therefore, our most
immediate need is to become a not-for-profit corporation. Because we
do not have nonprofit status, fund raising events and solicitation
of donations is virtually impossible. Not only do donors expect
their gifts to be tax deductable, they tend to equate an
organization's legitimacy with its corporate status and are often
suspicious of unincorporated charities, relegating them to the genre
of social clubs.
So, you see, we are in a
catch 22 of sorts. We need funds and/or donated professional
services to obtain our nonprofit corporate status, however donors
are not forthcoming because we lack that status!
We have researched the
details of what is entailed and created a checklist of sequential
steps required to bring us to our goal. Please consider if you would
like to be part of something special for a truly special category of
people. We promise you won't be disappointed with the results!
